What is the social environment in Italy?

Italy is a global leader in high fashion, an industry centered in Milan, a heaven for models, designers, and photographers who come to work in the houses of Versace, Gucci, Krizia, Ferragamo, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Armani, among many others. Italian design houses such as Modigliani and Alessi have also been strongly influential. 

The official language of the country is Italian. According to the BBC, 90 percent of the Italian population speaks Italian as their native language. Moreover, Italian cuisine has influenced food culture across the globe and is viewed as a form of art in itself. Wine, cheese and pasta are crucial for Italian meals. Where South is famous for its olive groves, and citrus fruits; Central Italy is known for meat dishes. Polenta, risotto fall in the dictionary of the North of Italy.

In the Italian society, family is at the core. The north of Italy has more of a nuclear family culture, while in the south, extended families still live together.

In terms of religion, it is dominated by Roman Catholics. Celebrating days of different saints is taken quite seriously. Many Italian kids are also named after saints.

In addition, Italy has given rise to a number of architectural styles, including classical Roman, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical. In fact, Italy is home to some of the most famous structures in the world, including the Colosseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
