Important Tips for the GMAT Exam
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is challenging but since it’s skill-based, candidates can learn the skills with adequate practice. Yet, there are important tips that could help out students to score better. So, here are some tips that candidates should remember if they want to perform better in the GMAT exams.
- Since GMAT is a computer adaptive exam, not every candidate will have the same types of questions while attempting the test.
- Students should download and use the free GMAT™ Official Practice Starter Kit and Exams 1 & 2 including two free mock computer adaptive test from the official website of GMAT(Graduate Management Admission Test), as it helps them to get familiar with the structure of the exam.
- The students should practice with real GMAT questions, answers, and explanations using the GMAT® Official Guide(OG) as it offers the types of questions that students are expected to encounter in the GMAT exam.
- The student is expected to take at least two mock-up computer-adaptive tests before the actual GMAT exam, as it enhances the time management skill for the test takers and makes them ready for the real-time test environment.
- Candidates must try and focus to answer all the questions and confirm their choice before they move on to the next question. Candidates cannot go back to the previous questions to change answers. So, it’s important to be precise and trust their responses.
- Strategies for problem-solving questions:
- Read each question carefully to determine what is being asked on the basis of the given data.
- Try to apply approximation methods by looking into the answers given for questions
- Utilize the erasable noteboard provided at the test center to work out answers.
- Overall, the students should also lean and apply tricks for determining the answers correctly in a minimal time frame.
- The scoring in GMAT is not based only on the number of questions that a candidate gets right or wrong. The GMAT test adapts to the test taker’s ability as well as the manner in which they select each question accordingly.
- The more questions a candidate answers correctly, the higher the difficulty level of the questions that follow. The marking of answers is done according to the difficulty level of the questions answered by the candidates. Similarly, if you answer a question incorrectly, you can expect the next question to be of a lower difficulty level. Hence, the total GMAT score of a candidate represents an extremely precise measure of a candidate’s ability. It is far more efficient than a pen-paper test, on which everyone answers the same questions.
