If you ideal destination of study is Canada, then the below information will help you understand the many steps involved in the student Visa Process.

Decide the University you want to apply to, and get your Acceptance Letter

You can only start you visa process once you have secured a seat at your university/universities of choice. It is therefore quintessential that you start your application process well before the application deadlines. These deadlines are based on yearly University Intakes, so you must ensure that you’re aware of which intake you’re targeting, and find out the deadline for the same.

Your Student Visa Application Process

As soon as you secure an acceptance letter from an institution recognized by the Canadian government, you should start you application process for getting a student visa (called a Canadian study permit). The Visa process has to be started at least four months before the course start date.

You would also need the following documents for applying:

• A filled Study Permit Application Form filled through your GCKey account (use the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website)
• Language Proficiency Test score – Which may be IELTS, PTE, TOEFL
• All Academic transcripts
• If any document is in regional language, same is required to be translated in English from the translator
• A Valid Passport
• Two recent passport sized photographs
• Visa Intent Letter
• Tuition fees / Confirmation fee payment details
• Work Experience Documents/Experience Certificate (If applicable)
• Financial Documents (Proof of Financial Support)
• Medical E-referral Letter

You will also need to make a GIC account with Scotia Bank/ICICI Bank / SBI Canada /HSBC / Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and an NOC to show no Criminal Record.

To get the medical e-referral letter, fix up an appointment with a doctor from the list approved by the Canada High Commission in India. Carry your passport, 2 photographs and cash for medical check- up. The Doctor will then send the medical reports directly to the high commission. Student can file the visa after 7 days of getting the medical done.

Once all the documents are in place, you will have to apply for biometric data submission, which costs 85 CAD. You will need to pay this fee in addition to the regular visa processing fee. The High Commission will then send an email notification about when you can go for biometric data submission. On the date of biometrics, you must carry a printout of this letter.

Our Visa team will then prepare the complete visa file, arrange the documents according to the CHC guideline and submit the file with your passport at VFS office. The Canadian High Commission takes around 4 to 5 weeks to email the visa grant letter.
