At present, Australia is the fourth most popular study destination for international students in the English-speaking world. The first and the second being the US and the UK. In the last few years, the Australian Government welcomed nearly 250,000 migrant workers across the globe. Among these immigrants  17% are from India, 13% are from China, 8% from the UK and 5% from the Philippines.

Speaking of the international student population in Australia, 5 countries account for more than 50 per cent of the student population. These countries are China, India, Nepal, Malaysia and Brazil. Out of which 30% are Chinese,  followed by 13% Indians.

Australia is becoming a study destination choice for international students because of its high quality of education, diverse culture, friendly locals and the job opportunities while studying. However, the only downside is that the education in Australia is not really affordable since the tuition fees are high as compared to the European universities. 

While studying in Australia, international students in Australia can work for 40 hours per fortnight, on their student visa (called Subclass 500). The average salary is 21-40 dollars for an hour. Based on the kind of qualification one has, they can stay back in Australia for a period of 18 months to 4 years after graduating.

As an international student, you are liable to pay complete tuition fees for your selected course in Australia. For an undergraduate bachelor degree, the range can be between A$20,000 and A$45,000. and for a masters degree, the range can be between A$22,000 and A$50,000, while for a doctoral degree, the range can be anywhere between A$14,000 and A$40,000.

Around 100,000 international students come to Australia every year. That number has started to increased at a great pace in 2022 and 2023 after covid in 2020. International students contribute majorly to Australia's economy, which boosts student enrollments and thus the jobs and wages. 

Some of the well known universities in Australia include Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, Queensland University. More than 30 Australian universities feature in the top 800 of the world university rankings.
