Technological Landscape of France
France might not be the first country to come into our mind when we think of science and technology. We would consider countries like the USA, UK and Germany while France is usually associated with its great food. France has indeed been a pioneer in a number of technological advances and is a major contributor to the science and technology field. It is the fourth country to achieve nuclear capability and also was the third country to have satellites, after the USA and Russia.
Currently digital technology represents around 5.5% of the French GDP. In addition, internal combustion engines, Brail, the first gas absorption refrigeration system was also developed in France only. On some daily basis things we rely on today, France had such an important role to play. Some of these things are photography, combustion engines, parachutes, electric generators and so on.
Another part of science and technology where France has played a major role is high speed transport. Some of the fastest trains originated in France.
The colleges and universities in France are offering science and technology courses to help create more scientists within the nation. They have developed scientific buildings that primarily work on science, technology and also mathematics. Having contributed to some major technologies, , France is still low key and we hardly get to hear about it in the technology sphere.
