Can students work part-time while studying in France?

To study in France might seem to be affordable since the tuition fee for most of the courses is reasonably priced. However, students do not mind earning a few extra bucks to cover their living and leisure expenses because there is so much to do and see the beautiful destinations in & around France while you are studying there, especially for students who like to travel around and explore different cultures.

While studying in France, international students are allowed to work part time even if they are in the 1st year of the  program or are pursuing a language course. Students in France can look for part-time jobs and can work part-time for 964 hours annually, which is 20 hours per week on a student visa in France. In case you are in a 6 month program, you are allowed to work 472 work hours. However, in all cases, your job schedule must not interfere with your studies and the program plan of your university. The university should also be a part of the national student healthcare plan.

Post completion of their degree (UG or PG), an international student can stay back and work in France, full time, for another 2 years in France provided their student visa is converted to a work permit. As a foreign student working part-time in France while studying, you are no longer needed to possess an authorization for temporary employment (known as APT, Autorisation Provisoire de Travail) which was the norm earlier.

The national minimum wage of France is 11.07 Euros per hour, so even if you are a part-time worker, you are eligible to get paid according to this hourly SMIC.
